I first started in the insurance business by working for Liberty Life for 3 years from 1988 until 1991. I operated a debit and collected both weekly and monthly insurance premiums for the insureds on my debit. Back then being able to use bank drafts to collect premiums were just starting to become available and the reason for the collections we did as agents for our customers. I also helped my customers purchase additional life insurance along with supplement insurance plans like cancer insurance.
I worked out of the Clemson SC office during this time. I left Liberty Life in 1991 to go to work for Farm Bureau insurance in their office located in Pickens SC. In addition to life insurance I was now licensed to sell property & casualty insurance which is home & auto insurance. I worked with Farm Bureau from 1991 until 1999.
I decided it was time to open my own business and the Shanley Insurance Agency was opened in December 1999. I have been operating my agency from 1999 to the present day. I first opened an office on west main street in Pickens, SC for 1 year. I decided to close this store front location in 2001 because a majority of my clients wanted me to come by their home and did not want to come into the office. I have been operating a virtual office from home since then.
Currently, I either do over the phone appointments or in-person appointments at my clients location. I offer both Life & Health insurance today which includes being a local ACA Health insurance agency through the Marketplace. My goal for all my clients is to help them protect and preserve their financial futures through the different products that we offer.
